They say a picture is worth a thousand words. While each person’s story is unique and distinctly their own, some archetypal generalities exist. Here are images and captions that poetically evoke the feelings of different parts of the Unraveling process, akin to Joseph Campbell’s articulation of The Hero’s Journey.

Below the surface lies another world both familiar and unknown. The water rests like glass waiting to be broken. This all begins when we say yes to diving in.
Contemporary culture is only interested in where we are going and getting there as fast as possible. But where are we racing to? This merry-go-round is maddening, exhausting, and often invisible while in operation. And it’s just as it would like to be, that’s what keeps us on the ride.
In mythology as old as humankind, the First Woman ate from the Tree of Knowledge. Our inner Tree beckons us, with fruit longing to be tasted and savored, bitten into and thoroughly enjoyed.
When we have long denied ourselves, all the unmet parts of ourselves congeal like tumultuous clouds in a stormy sky. This storm must break before we can find our way back to sunny days. And while at first thunder and lightning may be a little intimidating, we can learn to dance in the rain.
In Jungian psychology, the Shadow Self loosely is defined as “that which we resist, persists.” Getting to know the parts of ourselves we refuse to acknowledge is one of the most rapid tools to integration and wholeness.
Like the ocean teaches us, all things have a tide in and out. Becoming attuned to the cycles and rhythms of our lives helps us become aware of what to let in and when to let go.
Who are we when the music stops and the lights come up? The metaphor of nudity speaks of vulnerability, authenticity, and humanness. Unabashedly, we see ourselves just as we are.
As the sun sets on our old lives, a moon rises and the sky is painted with technicolor wonder we were not able to see before. Here awaits a world of wonder that we are able to see with new eyes.
As we break away and shake free of our burdens, we come to find an incredible lightness of being. Like birds taking flight, we cast our gaze upward and begin to believe that anything we dream is possible.
Winter makes way for Spring. We are always capable of letting our own snow and ice thaw to make way for the life that lies underneath. While this can indeed be a process that requires patience and care, nothing in the world can remain frozen forever. The sun’s light turns it all back into water, which is where the journey began.
Life coaching? Therapy? Counseling?
A different approach to all of that and more.
Unravel with Arianna is an intimate, structured conversation that has the potential to shift tectonics of your psyche. Based in principles of Jungian psychology and the ancient practice of holding space, unraveling offers a chance for you to see where you are and who you are in this world that is always telling you to rush off to somewhere and keep a mask on. Who are we? Where are we? When is the last time we have asked ourselves this?
Integration is at the heart of unraveling. We practice learning that we are whole before taking the chance to dive into times and places when we have felt any less than that. Take an opportunity to unravel and discover yourself empowered, balanced, and directed.
Arianna offers unraveling sessions in coffee shops and tea houses across NYC and via phone or video around the world.
